Help! - DUN icons vanishing from Network Connections!

Yesterday my ADSL connection failed so I double clicked on one of a number of dial up DUN connections I have had ready for this situation.
Immediately some of the other DUN icons vanished!
I immediately used Norton GoBack to go back a few minutes to get them back.
Then I double clicked another dial up DUN connection and more of less the same thing happened again!! So I used GoBack again.

Does anyone have any idea what might be going on?
A virus or similar?

I'm running Windows XP Home with SP2 and all updates to date plus AVG anti virus, Spybot S&D, Spyware Blaster and Ad Aware.
