yeh,
its because your hardware configuration has changed and
this is a Microsoft check point to ensure the o.s. doesnt
get freely disseminated from one machine to another.
simply "repairing" windows with the windows cd will
syncronize all the system files to your new configuratoin.
select new install, then point to the current installation on
your hd, then say yes to repair....

I recently replaced my P4 2,6 GHz with a 3 GHz Hyper-Threading. Only
CPU replaced, same motherboard. (yes, I'm sure my MB supports HT)
Windows boots just fine first time after replacement and detects a new
cpu. Then, after a new restart windows refuses to start, no matter what
startup options I try. Just when the XP loading image is about to
appear, the computer restarts by itself.
I've tried deactivating HT in BIOS and also reduce cpu speed, but
without any luck.
I have an ASUS P4G8X Deluxe s478 533fsb, 1 GB DDR and XP Home SP2.
Any suggestions??
I would appreciate NOT having to reinstall.. :P
Cheers
hP
