Re: frequent reboots

Hi Ralph,

For the future, here is the link I found for your motherboard:
http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/chipsets/p4-series/p4m266/

Also http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=5&ArticleID=466 For
Sound Drivers.

http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=420&OSID=1&CatID=1010&SubCatID=104

Vinyl_AudioCodec_V660f.zip

To install the driver, save any unsaved work and close all applications
then click on the driver download link (above). Choose the "Save File"
option and save it to your folder under Windows where you file your drivers.
Unzip the file. (To unzip the file right click and highlight "Extract All")
Then double click on the Setup.exe file to run the installation program.
Follow the prompts and restart at the end of the installation.

Replace your Audio Drivers.

Hi Ralph,

Who is the manufacturer of the Motherboard and what is the Model
Number?
Can you post a link to your Motherboard?

"Lotes" tells me the Sound Chip Manufacturer, but lots of
Manufacturers
have different Sound Chips and the Sound Drivers are different for each.

Hi ralph,

Now we are getting somewhere. :)

Was Windows 98 installed on this particular computer or on a
different
computer? Have you reformatted this Hard Drive and installed
Windows
XP
Professional Edition from scratch?

Do you have OnBoard Sound Chip on the motherboard or is your
Sound
controlled by a Sound Card? And what is the Manufacturer and Model
Number
of
the Card or Number of the Sound Chip.
