What kind of XP CD do you have - a Dell OEM version or a full Retail XP CD?

I've been trying to do a clean boot with the Reinstallation CD provided by
Dell on a Demension 8250 ( I refere to it as DEMENTED ) and there is a
file
missing.The file is called ASMS and it tries to find a sub-folder called
GLOBALROOT\DEVICE\CDROMO\I386 . The main microsoft webpage does not
recognize this or anything like it. Has anyone had any dealings with this
file or know where to download it from & install it? Thanks for any help.
