How many svchost.exes are supposed to be running? I have several that show
up in my task manager. Four say they are 'system', the other two are
"network service" and "local service"

There is no such thing as XP Corp. that is a euphemism for pirated.

SVCHOST.exe is a legitimate Microsoft file. It can also be malware.

Update your antivirus software and run a full system scan.

Update whatever anti-spyware applications that you have and run a full
system scan with each one.

You might want to start in Safe Mode to run your antivirus and
anti-spyware
software.

Running a full system antivirus scan or anti-spyware scan in Safe Mode can
be a good idea. Some viruses and other malware like to conceal themselves
in areas Windows protects while using them. Safe mode will prevent those
applications access and therefore unprotect the viruses or other malware
allowing for easier removal.

SVCHOST.exe seems to be the culprit. It does not show 100%, but the
meter
is pegged. Once I end the process I can launch apps, ie, office...etc.

If load Home, Pro w/ SP1, this doesn't happen. I installed A/V,
firewall
and spyware removal, then installed SP2, and I was back to the system
hanging.

I did a clean install on 3 different pc's with the same thing happening.
System hangs, cannot launch task mgr, IE or other apps. My Computer,
Docs
opens.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, reply to rossk7@xxxxxxxxxx
