Windows XP Home dies on startup

The short of it (i.e. I can give more information if need be):
Similar to a previous post but different in a few ways...
Recently, I installed Debian GNU/Linux on my machine with a GRUB loader.
After installation, an attempt to start in Windows brought up a screen
where I was to choose how to boot: Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking,
etc.
No matter what I picked, I got to the Windows' progress-bar screen where
it suddenly forced the computer to restart. The last time I tried to start
up, I did get a BSoD but it went away so quickly I couldn't use it.
Furthermore, from my Debian partition, I can access all the original data,
and I can see all of my files, so I don't think I accidentally override an
important system file.
After inquiring at a Debian forum, I was told that it was probably a
Windows problem because I got to a Windows-specific loading screen and the
data probably wasn't damaged.
