XP hangs during boot...

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

When I boot XP I get the error"There is a problem...Technical info:

Stop: 0x0000007E (0x0000005, 0xEE9154D0, 0xF896BFC8, 0xF896BCC4)"

The only thing I can do, is turn of my PC. Or reboot in Safe Mode. I tried
to boot with "the last known working configuration, but this results in the
same (fatal) error.

I have tried to go back to an earlier date, doesn't work, same error.

When I look in NTBTLOG, I see

.....loaded amdagp.sys
loaded agpCPQ.sys
Fail to load ACPI-pc (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface)
Fail to load Audiocodecs...

And lots more failures to load.

It seems that driver ACPI-pc (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) is
the problem.

In my idea this are the files from ACPI:

* hal.inf

* hal.dll (\system32)

and maybe ntkrnlpa.exe (\system32), ntoskrnl.exe (\system32) and ASACPI.SYS
(\system32\drivers\).

On the same computer I have a (still working) XP-install.

Is it possible to just copy these files from the good to the defective
WindowsXP, or must I do other things (too)?

I prefer not to do a (re) install of Windows XP

Thnx

.
