Re: Remote Assistance could not connect

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Hi Guy,

Are you using Windows Live Messenger to start Remote Assistance? I use
Remote Assistance all the time.

First, connect to the other person, via the Instant Messenger and Voice
Only. Don't use Camera and Voice. Slows down Remote assistance when using
the Camera with Remote Assistance.

One person who needs Remote Assistance clicks Actions then clicks
Request Remote Assistance. Next the other person needs to accept Remote
Assistance Request.

Remotee Assistance can't be done using just one person. You need other
person to accept Remote Assistance.

Hello,

I am having problems getting two computers to connect to each other via
Remote Assistance.

Computer A:
Windows XP Pro SP2
Remote Assistance Allowed
Connect to Internet via corporate LAN

Computer B:
Windows XP Pro SP2
Remote Assistance Allowed
Connect to Internet via 1x AirCard through Telus Mobility

Tried:
-The standard method of sending an e-mail invite from A to B and B to A.
Neither worked.
-Create file and send to each other. Neither worked.
-Determined public IP via whatismyip.com and edited the
RcBuddy.MsRcIncident
file accordingly, both ways. No luck.
-Edited the RAInvitation.msrcincident file accordingly as well - no go.

Computer A is behind a Symantec hardware firewall, but unfortunately I
have
no access to it. It is administered by an outsourced company. However,
that
shouldn't prevent Computer A from accessing Computer B, it should only
affect
Computer B from trying to connect to Computer A right?

Anyway, any ideas as to how I might overcome this challenge?

I've tried LogMeIn Free and it's working fine - however I don't know how I
would deploy that using an image across 50 laptops not connected to a
domain.
But that's a question for another day.

TIA
