If you plug in a USB Mass Storage Device even just once, I think that it.
stays on the list because it will still be listed in the Device Manager.

Is the printer connected to a USB port? If it is, it's normal for
anything connected to a USB port will make the Safely Remove Hardware
icon appear in the Notification area (by the clock).

If you experience slow logoff (with Saving your settings for most of
the time while logging off), you are having profile unload problems.
If you see a lot of Userenv/1517, Userenv/1524 or Userenv/1500 errors
in the Event Viewer, download and install the User Profile Hive
Cleanup Service.
This decreased my shutdown time a bunch. Takes any where from 10 to
20 seconds to shutdown.
C:\Program Files\UPHClean\uphclean.exe is added.
The User Profile Hive Cleanup service gets added to Services and
uphclean.exe will run all the time. I am one that doesn't like to
have any extra services running, but I am sold on UPHClean.

I try to shut down, and it hangs on "saving my setting".. I have
gone into "Device Manager".. and I seen a yellow exclamation point
by "USB Mass Storage Device".
When I bring up the "safely remove hardware" icon, in that window
my USB Mass Storage Device is listed there?!?! I have no cards or
flash drives plugged in or anything.. Why is the USB Mass Storage
Device listed in that window??? I believe that is what is
preventing my computer from shutting down ?!?!
Any information and help would be greatly appreciated .. thank
you...
