Re: Transfering files from pw protected user account to new drive - help!

There is software that is bootable that allows you to totally reset
window's passwords.

The short version: I need to transfer files from a not-bootable (I
think) slave HD to my new master drive. Problem is that my XP account
was admin and password protected. All I want is those files. How can
I move them? Windows sees this slave drive as the G: drive but tells
me access to My Documents is restricted.

Please help.

The long version: this is to explain why I can't just boot off the old
HD and change the account settings------------------------------
A month or so ago I got a new computer. I put my old HD (IDE drive
w/XP, 2 user accts - 1 is pw protected) into the new machine. New
machine is SATA, so I got a card that allows me to connect the IDE
drive. This means that I can't boot off of that HD, though - unless
someone can tell me how to set that up...I can't figure out a way to do
it in the BIOS and I've looked.

Because I was running GoBack, I couldn't assign the drive a letter
until tonight. Partition Magic saw it as a Hex 44 file system. I
disconnected the SATA drive, tried to boot off the old one,
successfully got into the GoBack recovery system and disabled GoBack,
but it would NOT boot off the old drive again. Put the SATA drive back
in, we're booting fine, but files are restricted b/c of the pw on that
Windows account.
