right now im recovering files form D drive useing a program called
Recover My Files, but to slow i do not what to do any thing right now
to that drive

and as for win98s3 i have install that for a while, the upgrade some
time ask me if i qualty for the upgrade, so have to put in a win 98se
cd, but it never loaded
and fro what i learn ther not must differnt from a upgrade cd and
and a full cd for xp home
, it has all the file and is cheap
i never has a problem with it so far, but i had the dual boot scrren
before, just wish i knew hope i got rid of it
lol

ther was only one time i boot xp over 98se
but most time i formated, i use use the xp cd nad a few time i had to
show i had a older ver for upgrade
i did not install 98se this time nor any other time since i got xp home

If I was faced with this problem I would solve it this way. Since your
pictures and other stuff where mistakenly over written I would solve
this issue the fastest and easy way by reformating D drive and make
sure it is set as a slave so it won't be considered a boot disk again.
Better yet, fdisk c& d reformat C & D then install Win 98SE, then
install your XP upgrade. XP upgrade are prone to failure and have more
problems becasue they carry over Win 98 instablities with them. My
advise it to purchase Win Xp SP 2. If purchasing a new XP copy is a
issue; I show a short cut of skipping Win 98 Se install. If you would
like to try to reverse engineer yourself out of this mess read up on

2, The XP Home CD; did it come with the computer? win 98se came with
my
compter wnet i got it so i purchase a xp home upgrade
3, Is the CD an official copy (with Microsoft laser engraved Icon) yes
it
has the light change cd on top and it has microsoft genuine with same
dancing color, and hard to read with my eyes
4, Is your computer a Dell? (Dells have a hidden partition to help no my
compter was and s till s a put together one part at a time so to
speak, it
belong to no one co
reinstall the OS)
5, Did you lend your CD to nay friends or family or acquaintances? no my
Cd
never left my room, and i never lent it to any one, and why did there
reactivate it the other day fri july 8, but then i did not have 2
option in
start up either
This should be a good start for now.
Once you answer these troubleshooting questions. I may have to ask more
depending on your answer.
