Unfortunately, i don't have any other ideas. Maybe you should not rely on it
as a safegaurd. Possibly, if you buy a premium backup software like from
norton or something, you will get better results. I use disk imaging.
It has worked perfectly each time. Never had any headaches since i;ve used
this method....... (It does appear that there may be a problem with your
system even if the command line instructions specific for backing up the
system state, do not work. Maybe a windows repair might help.)
There is a search field on this news group. Try entering some search
criterias and pull up the threads that have been responded too ).... sorry,

I tried the procedure that you referenced. It fails with the same failure.
messages that I mentioned in my original post. How do I get around those
errors?

the link above should fix you right up....

I have Shadow Copy and Verify turned on.
Nothing is working since the Backup will not complete without serious errors.
What are causing these errors and how do I get around them?

yeh, a full ntbackup should take about that much time. did you check the
option to use shadow copy and to verify? you see if there is no shadow of
your system files/state then those files are actively being used and locked.
the shadow creates "a shadow" of them so that they can be backed up? since
most of the other files are not actively in use, they were backedup even if
you didn't have shadow turned on. incidently, do you also have the restore
capability working ok too?

All I am trying to Backup is the System State, that's all I have checked.
Backup terminates on its own.
If I check System State and All files on C and D drives, I get the same
errors after 3.5 hours of Backup.

also, i think your backup should have taken a bit longer than a minute. you
need to place check marks against all those program files and system files
and system state files you will need in the event of a restore.
