Hi,
Just bought a laptop. Went into the shop and explained that from time to
time I would need to transfer files from my PC to my laptop and vice
versa.
The guy in the shop suggested memory sticks.
I explained that I am a 3d designer and that the files (quite literally)
are massive.
I assumed (after having used many external devices) that I should buy a
USB to USB cable. Like on my external hard drive and my MP3 player.
The guy in the shop said no, I would be better with a network cable.
So, I bought one.
When I have plugged anything into a computer before, a pop up appears
telling me it is connected or that I need to install something, so I
assumed that this would happen again.
Plugged the network cable into the laptop and the PC and bugger all
happened. Went to my PC and it isn't listed in there.
Tried to follow the set up a network connection wizard thingy but got
completely lost.
An icon appeared in my task bar telling me that a network is connected
with little or no connectivity.
WHAT DO I DO?
All I want to do is transfer files.
Did you get a crossover cable - assuming you're connecting the two machines
directly (without a hub)?
John
