Hi Michelle,
With the factory Recovery CD, your pc will be reset to the way it was on day 1 at Sony. So you would lose your data files & documents.
If you have a diskette drive, follow the advice I gave to Quiller.

Hi Maurice,.
I have the same problem as Quiller. I have a Sony Vaio Notebook with
Microsoft Windows XP Professional operating system and while I was in the
middle of perfoming a scan disk I lost power to my computer. Now when I
start my computer I get the Microsoft logo followed by the Sony logo and then
I am asked which mode I want to start in. I have selected each mode and each
time I do it it brings me back to the same message.
My computer has a hidden partition with the VAIO Recovery Wizard software
which will allow me to perform a System Recovery however; it says I can loose
everything. Do you know if it is possible to back up everything on my
computer before doing the System Recovery? Is there a way do do a partial
recovery so I dont lose everything?
Thanks,
Michelle
