I want the luxury of having an actual choice of operating systems when I
buy my next computer.
You already have a choice, you can switch right now, for free even.
The choice is a Marketing decision of the vendor you purchase the
computer from.
Bull***. For any PC vendor today, there is NO CHOICE but MicroShaft!
Unless you're a PC vendor who really wants to go out of business.
MAC's have been available for decades, you could have picked one.
Yeah, sure. I want a MAC like I want to be an artsy fartsy fruity guy.
Unix machines have been available for decades, you could have picked
one.
I now have two UNIX boxes that do their jobs and are fun to play with. I
did in fact install and service Sun UNIX/Solaris boxes for most of the
eighties and nineties so UNIX is kewl. Problem is UNIX won't run most of
the software that's out there today because all the software that's out
there today is designed specifically to run only under Winblows.
Linux machines have almost reached the ease of Windows XP, you can order
computers with Linux installed.
Ditto. Linux is fun but like most non-tekkies, my Wife and kids can't
deal with it. Be realistic. If Linux was competition for Billy boy, he
would simply buy it, at any cost, and avoid the competition..
The choice has always been yours, you just have to be Man enough to make
it and then not blame others if it's a mistake, the same with your
choice for picking Windows.
I'll say it again, MicroShaft is the worst case scenario of the fox
guarding the hen house. There is ZERO competition in the O/S industry.
Bill, be a Man and allow some competition.
