I'm having problemw ith Internet Connection Sharing on my Windows XP Media
Centre PC. I have a home network with three computers, and an ADSL
internet connection on one which is shared so that the other two can
access it.
All was well until last week, when the other two computers lost their
internet connection. When I investigated I found the option 'Allow other
users to connect to the internet through this computers internet
connection' in the Advnaced Tab on the internet connection's properties
dialog was unchecked.
When I re-checked it and applied, I got the error 'Cannot Enable Shared
Access. Error 1060: The specified service does not exist as an installed
service'
Any ideas anyone?
Yes - buy a hub and router....(if you haven't got a router already). ICS has
a history of not being all that good, and having each machine directly
connected through a hub to the router will work MUCH MUCH better, in that
each machine can then connect without having to have the shared-connection
machine switched on......
