Re: search assistant filetypes

I went ahead and added registry entries with PersistentHandler subkeys,
and that serves the purpose.

Glad that helped, Cameron.

I thought I remembered finding a text file (not necessarily .txt extension)
on my C: disk with a list of file extensions in it, and I even remember
adding some extensions to it. Something simpler than inserting class IIDs
into the registry.

So the first place I looked was \windows\inf\srchasst.inf, but that isn't
it. And the list of filetypes in \windows\srchasst\mui\...\lcldocs.xml
doesn't correspond to the filetypes that are actually recognized by Search
Assistant on my computer, so I was wondering what those .xml files are
supposed to be doing.

Anyway, I went ahead and added registry entries with PersistentHandler
subkeys, and that serves the purpose.
:)

Thanks.

I ran across a file a few months ago that tells Search Assistant which
filetypes it can process, but now I've forgotten where it is. Anybody
know
where it is?

Thanks,
Cameron
