Actually, that didn't work; however, I have figured out the problem. I
finally investigated more thoroughly within the Device Manager. I noticed
that there was one drive with a name I didn't recognize... after much
thinking and looking around, I finally figured that it had the same name as
one of my printers -- specifically, the Brother MFC 210C. This puzzled me,
until I remembered that the printer has several slots for reading digital
camera media. Testing my theory, I unplugged the USB cable from the
printer... and the AutoPlay problem disappeared immediately! What I then
did, after plugging the cable back in, was to disable this "drive" (which is
how Windows sees the media... as a removable drive) in Device Manager.
Should I ever get a digital camera, I will gladly enable it, then reinstall
the device driver, which should fix the problem permanently.
Thanks,
Eric

Hello,
You can try installing the AutoPlay Repair Tool and see if that can fix
your problem. You can get it at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=C680A7B6-E8FA-45C4-A171-1B389CFACDAD&displaylang=en.
You can also get it over at http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
on line 234 (to the right side).

I have this rather bizarre problem with Autoplay... twice recently, it has
decided to start all by itself, then stop, then start again, then start,
going over and over and over... I can't figure out why... there were no
cds in any drives, and Device Manager indicated all was well. Any ideas
from anybody here?
Thanks,
Eric
