Re: can't burn CDs anymore

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

John,

John,

Thanks for the advice but I have the latest firmware for both drives.

What confuses me is why did both drives stop working at the same time after
working so well for so long? And, as I noted previously, since there was 3
seconds of music recorded before the recording operation stopped, I'm
beginning to think the error message may be correct about the speed issue.
I'm going to follow that thought.

Last year and up until about 10 days ago I burned over 200 cds
using XP with SP2 for most if not all of the time. To burn I used
mostly WMP, both 9 and 10, but also used Record Now on occasion
without problems. I have both a Yamaha CD-RW2300EZ drive and a
Sony DVD-RW (510) drive and both of them worked. Now lately I
can't burn anything. I get error message 0XC00D11AB telling me the
data isn't being transferred fast enough or some such excuse but
with all my past success this must be incorrect.

Have you tried updating the firmware on your CD Burner? It seems that
the manufacturers of the newer CDs are recommending that you upgrade
the firmware and, in my case, it helped tremendously. You might have
trouble with your Yamaha drive as Yamaha no longer supports CD drives
but you might be able to find a firmware upgrade at:

Check here for your Sony burner:

Good Luck,
