BTW, you can re-create the ICF service entry by exporting the following
registry branch from another XP SP1 system, and then merging the contents
in
your system.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess
I did this and it works. I get a pop up though when I double click on the
service that says...
"Configuration Manager: The specified device instance handle does not
correspond to a present
device"
Ramesh.......
That fixed it like a charm. I deleted the enum key, rebooted and no more error messages.
I do have one more problem I just found and I'm hoping you can help with....
From my main computer, named Athlon, I can access all the shared files and folders on all my othercomputers (5). However, from my other 5 computers, when I try to access the shared folders on
Athlon, from Windows Explorer>My Network Places>Entire Network>Microsoft Windows Network>My
Workgroup>Athlon I get a pop up which says....
\\Athlon is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource.
Contact the administrator of the server to find out if you have access permissions.
Access is denied.
However, on my other 5 computers I have shortcuts on the desktops which point to text files on
Athlon and when I click those they open and I can edit/save them without a problem. Also, I share
all my printers across the network and my other computers can access the printer on Athlon and
Athlon can access all the other printers. All my computers are running XP. Up until I got hit with
that trojan/worm my file and printer sharing worked perfectly. I have checked the folder shares on
Athlon and they're set right. I even unshared the folders, rebooted and redid the folders I want to
share. File and Printer sharing for Microsoft Networks for the nic cards is installed. I've
checked everything I know how to check but I only know the basics of networking. I hope I can get
my file sharing problem fixed as I transfer allot of files back and fourth across my network.
Once again, your help is greatly appreciated
Brian
