Re: Can't do Fast User Switching for some reason

Yes, I have rebooted. And the fast user switching is not there. Both the
Terminal Services and Fast User Swtiching are set to manual. When I clicked
them to start, I got error messages: " Could not start the Fast User
Switching Compatibility service on Local Computer. Error 1068: The dependency
service or group failed to start." also, for the terminal services, "Error
1083: The executable program that this service is configured to run in does
not implement the service."

Did you reboot once after applying that REG file?

I clicked the button "Startup..." at the top and the list changed

Which list are you talking about?
Are you able to start the service manually?

Set the "Fast User Switching Compatibility" service to Manual, and reboot.

ok I downloads the "Terminal Services" and set it to manual. But in the
process, I clicked the button "Startup..." at the top and the list changed,
and when I pressed it again, it changed back. this isn't bad is it? Also,
when i went to control panel, switch users etc. the check for use fast user
switching still isn't checked when i look back at it. the problem is that my
computer was about to crash and my friend took it to get fixed by a guy and
when I got it back all the programs were gone. so I took it back and he put
some of the things back on. but ever since then, i haven't been able to
switch users. when i go to start logoff, there is only the option to log-off
and not one to switch users. also, it is in the old version of windows ( the
box is more square and gray). so what should I do now?

For Windows XP SP2 systems only:

Download termservice.reg from my site, and save to Desktop. Right-click
the
file and choose "Merge". Missing "Terminal Services" should be restored.
Restart Windows for the changes to take effect.

I have the same problem as wannabe, and "Terminal Services" is not on my
list. what do I do?

Click Start, Run and type Services.msc
Double-click "Terminal Services" from the list
Set it's Startup type to "Manual"
Close Services.msc applet and restart Windows.

Now, try enabling Welcome Screen, and Fast User Switching options.
