Thank you for respondng again.
I have performed the steps you suggested under Device manager.

I still cannot see the loading of system files when I boot up the computer.
After I turn on the computer, I see only a couple of seconds of vertical
blue and black color stripes. [Ususally at this time, I should see a flash of
'DELL' on the screen, and the system started to load]. Then a moment of
screen in black, presumbly the system files are loading, but I can't see the
proccess.

The sign in of user page later appears, and I typed in password to log on.
Afterwards, the computer is functioning well when I do my work.

I checked back Device Manager/Monitors tab, found the words va550 [the one
I clicked and rolled back] was gone.

To further check the result of my performed actions, I put back another E771
monitor and turn on the computer. After a blink of 'DELL' appears, I can see
the loading of system files, and the log on after loading of personal
settings is normal.

Since ViewSonic va550's flat panel saves me space, for now I choose to use
it without seeing the loading of system files.

Shall I perform the steps on VerboseStatus, though I have no idea what it is.

If it was, indeed drivers, you need to look in the Device Manager.

You can roll back the driver to the previous version.

Right click My Computer | Properties | Hardware tab |

Thanks for your reply. I have not carried not your steps due to the
following fact:

My son gave me his Viewsonic va550 monitor in xmas, I replaced it with my
own monitor. Everything was fine since then.
2 weeks ago I downloaded an update of va550 monitor from Microsoft Update.
Trying to see it was the cause of the problem, I disconnect va550 from pc
and put back my own monitor.
Guess what, it works. I can now see the loading of system files and the
moving color bar again.

I want to remove the va550 update but I can't find it under Change/remove
Programs.
I figure if I can't remove the va550 update, I either have to live with
the issue on va550, or use the other monitor which is bulky on my desk.

Any comments? Thanks.

There used to be a scanning process on the screen, a colored bar moving
continueouslyfrom left to right, before XP gives me a sign in page for
password.
I do not see this process now, though the sign in page later appears.

There is no virus/spyware detected, and it seems my pc is functioning ok
except for this issue.

What cause the problem and how do I resolve the issue.
Is it a pc problem or a monitor problem?

Would anyone kindly help?
