The .db files are a database for the thumbnails in the folder and probably
did not recognize the changes you have made. If this happens again you could
use the "Refresh Thumbnail" in the picture properties and see if that fixes
the thumbnail before deleting the "thumb.db" file.

Much Appreciated. That Fixed it. Deleted .db file; closed folder;
re-opened
folder and thumbs now agree with JPEGs ... and I have a new .db file in
the
folder.

I suppose that the problem occurs because of making changes to the file
names in the folder and the .db file doesn't see the changes.

Seems to me that a better design would have the .db file see changes and
edit itself invisibley.

Perhaps someday!

Delete the hidden "thumb.db" file in the folder containing your pictures.
You will need to go into the Folder options and select "show hidden files
and folders" and possibly uncheck "Hide protected operating system files"
to
view hidden files.
