RE: Please help! I have run out of ideas for fixing USB printer fa

According to the "system information" box, the computer I am trying to get
the printer to work on is: Windows XP
Media Center Edition
Version 2002
Service pack 2
All of that was preloaded when I purchased this system.
I have had this computer for about 5 weeks now. The printer was purchased
with my last computer that ran xp also (but not media center, not service
packs).
As I stated in my prior post, I have installed, uninstalled & reinstalled
the software that came with the pinter. When that did not work, I deleted
everything & then recovered the system.
The printer works fine IF I delete the USB ports prior to shutting down the
system for the night.
If I do not delete them, I get "unknown device" for the printer & the system
doesnt seem to know the printer is there. (hence the "no driver" message).
Hope I have clarified my issue. Thank you for your time.

Are the XP Home edition and the Media Center two different computers,.
or was it upgraded? If they are two different PCs, then you must
completely do a new install of the printer. DO NOT connect it to the
PC, install the software during which you'll be prompted when to connect
it and when to turn it on. If the PC was upgraded, then the printer is
already installed.
Uninstall & reinstall Printer correctly

I have an all-in-one hp 2175. Computer is running XP media center edition
2002, SP2.
For some reason, the printer will only work if I delete the the USB ports &
reboot the system.
I have checked all updates & drivers from both the MS page & the HP page &
according to the system, they are the latest versions.
My printer is in good working order-tested it. Uninstalled the HP software-
reinstalled, that didnt fix it either. Recovered the whole system, changed
USB ports. I have read over several of the posts on this site & have
attempted some of them also. The one about changing the "power management" in
the device properties could not be tried as that tab isnt on every one of the
USB properties.
When the printer doesnt work, the USB says its "unknown device" & when I try
to update drivers, the the screen says "there are not no drivers installed" .
The printer worked wonderfully on XP home edition. I wonder if there is not
something either in the service pack 2 or the media center programming that
is ignoring, deleting or otherwise keeping the printer from being
recognized???
Is it possible to correct this?
