I keep having this problem with my operating system that comes and
goes for no apparent reason. Every once in a while, my computer
clock will run fast, often being at least 3 minutes ahead of the
actual time after about 20 minutes after I had just
re-synchronized the clock to internet time. This problem will
start happening for no reason, then will go away for no reason.
I literally reset the clock constantly when it happens. It's been
going on for a while this time, longer than usual, which is the
reason I decided to get help this time. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.
There is a "Windows Time" program that runs as a service in the
background and will synchronize time to other compters on your
network. If another computer on your network is running fast, you
may find that your computer synchronizes to it. There are a couple
of work-arounds... From a command prompt, enter:
net time /setsntp:132.239.1.6
w32tm /resync /rediscover
Where the IP address is that of your NTP time server. This should
force your computer to sync with that server.
Another solution would be:
Start-->Run-->Services.msc
Then find the "Windows Time" service, Double-click, Stop the service
and set the startup option to "Disabled".
This may/may not be the source of your problem but it's worth a try.
HTH,
John
