It looks like an .hiv extension file. It has probably to do with backing up
and restoring the windows xp registry.
I should wait for more replies to your thread from microsoft mvps. You
might need to keep it.

In my partition C I see a TEST.HIV file - size 11,776KB. Any idea what
this is and do I need to keep it? (WinXP Home)
