Re: MDAC 2.8

I have run component checker several times. I'm not sure what the results
mean. In the left pane the symbols in front of "Summary Report", "File
Details" and "MDAC 2.8 SP1 on Windows XP SP2" all turn yellow when selected,
but I don't understand from the Help file what should turn red or yellow to
indicate an error or warning. There are no registry details given only
Summary, File and MDAC.

This is a list of the 13 .dll files listed in the right hand pane of
component checker:
MSADCOR, msado15, MSADOMD, msadrh15, MSDASC, MSDASQL, MSDASQLR, OLEDB32,
SQLOLEDB, SQLSRV32, msdart, msdaorar, msorc32r

I also ran the test described in the troubleshooting guide you sent me to.
The test ran perfectly and recommended running component checker to check
ADO and RDS. I don't know how to check them with component checker.

So far, everything I've done indicates that MDAC is okay.

This started with a database application failing immediately after
installation. The company tech support rep told me it was an MDAC problem,
but he doesn't have the knowledge to help me. I installed the application
on a friends XP system and it works perfectly.

Thank you for your help.
John

Download and run mdac utility component checker:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/mdac/downloads/default.aspx

For info on it check the link I provided in the previous response.

MDAC 2.8 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
Release date: August 2004
How to obtain the service pack
To install MDAC 2.8 SP1, you must install Windows XP Service Pack 2
(SP2). For additional information about how to obtain Windows XP SP2,

I think this is saying that I can't reinstall MDAC 2.8 SP1 without
reinstalling XP SP2, but that doesn't seem to be possible either.

MDAC stopped working.
Can anyone tell me how to reinstall MDAC 2.8 SP1 for Windows XP SP2?

Thanks,
