I can't access a particular site. I have no problems with the rest
of the net, it's just this one site. The site is runing up, I've
got it on the screen of a
notebook next to this pc.
I normally use Firefox but have tried IE as well without success.
OS = WinXP SP2 with all updates. I was connected to the site when
I tried to navigate to another page on the site & Firefox could no
longer find the site.
1) I was using Firefox when the problem occured, but I've since
reverted to IE & restored the default settings.
2) There is no reference to the site in my registry
3) I'm trying to access the site from a bookmark that hasn't been
amended since I last used it successfully.
4) I've acquired a new IP address from my ISP
5) I've run Ad-aware
6) I've run Spybot
7) I've run Trend's Housecall
8) I use ZoneAlarm
I've had a similar problem before & resolved it by re-installing
WindowsXP but I'm hoping to find a less drastic solution this
time.
Can anyone please suggest anything that is not on the "already
tried" list above?
One thing you haven't mentioned is that if there is an entry in the
"Hosts" table for this site that is incorrect this can happen as
Windows will use a IP address in the Hosts table before using the DNS
address. Use a text editor such as Notepad to look at the file:
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
