Ok i recently upgraded my motherboard to a more stable via chipset
from my old sis 648fx chipset. however when i started up the pc
windows started to load and then i got a quick blue screen and
reboot. now i expected this so i put i my win xp pro w/sp2 cd and
attempted repair installing windows. it installed and all but during
installation i got a random error saying it couldnt install a tape
controller. anyways the intallation completed and the computer
rebooted. however now the blue screen comes up as soon as the windows
logo shows up. it flashes and reboots. ive tried repairing several
times and changing back to my old mobo and i keep getting the same
problem. ive tried chkdsk in the recovery console and it came up with
no errors. also all my files are still intact on my hard drive( i
checked with multiple dos programs). even if i recover all my files i
will lose my registry and the hundreds of programs ive installed. any
way i can recover from this disaster?
What happens when you boot into safemode?
