Re: AHH! Continous reboot loop!

I'm very concerned about my laptop right now, I desperately need it for
studying and it has alot of stuff on it that isn't backed up (I've
definately learned my lesson!).

For a while, every know and then it would go blue screen and reboot for
no apparent reason. It's so quick that I can't actually make out what
it's saying before it reboots. When it reloads it said it had recovered
from a serious error. I didn't really think much of it.

The other day I started it up and a message popped up saying something
along the lines of an error with MSN Messenger, before I could read it
properly the blue screen flashed up and it had rebooted. It then gave
me a few choices of how I wanted to start the computer up, I chose
normal and as soon as the windows xp loading screen appeared the screen
went blue and restarted again! It loaded up the the same screen and I
tried to load in safe mode and it did the same thing. I've tried it
several times since then but with no luck.

I'm totally lost for answers right now. If I can't actually get on to
Windows, how can I actually fix the problem? I'm a student and I rely
on my laptop alot, I'd love to be able to restore everything on it but
as long as I can fix it i'll be happy.

Does anyone have any explanation or possible a remedy for this problem?
I'm relcutant to go through Microsoft because the support pages are
written like I'm some kind of expert and they'll squeeze all the money
they can out of me if I go for one-to-one support.

Thank!

When you get to the Windows XP Startup Menu (the one with Normal
Startup, Safe Mode, and other choices on it) look for a menu item that
says "Turn off automatic restart on System Failure" or words to that
effect and choose it. You will come back to the menu and this time
choose Safe Mode.

Good luck
