Disk boot failure

Greetings,
I have a new Gateway Media Center PC with the Athnlon 64x2 and the Nvidia
6100. I 've been experiencing a re-occuring problem. During the boot
process, after verifing DMI pool, the screen shows Nvidia Boot Agent
220.0518 PXE-E61 Media test failure, check cable PXE-MOF Exiting Nvidia
Boot Agent Disk Boot Failure-insert system disk. The first couple of times
this came up I contacted Gateway and they had me do a system restore. The
pc would start normally for a day or so and then the Boot Agent Screen would
apprear. I was able to get the pc to start normally today after unplugging
it from the power source and restarting. Gateway is sending me a new
hard-drive, but I'm not so sure that is going to fix things. I was looking
though Devise Manager tonight to see if I might have an IRQ conflict and
found that under Non-plug and play drivers a warning sign next to a listing
called Serial. Under the Device status: this device is not present, is not
working properly or does not have all it's drivers installed (code24). The
current status: stopped Driver files:
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\serial.sys Under Device Instance ID:
Root\legacy_serial\0000
Could this file be the cause of my problems? I only have a recovery disk
and Gateway has the recovery partion (D) protected so I can't even try to
copy it from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Brad
