New security fix prevents FTP

I use FTP from my network places everyday to transfer doc files to server. After installing security fixes yesterday I am not able to connect to server. I have deleted server address and made new FTP address still doesn't work. I am able to use Core FTP to upload and download so it must be something that was changed in Windows XP. It just isn't as easy as before. Does anyone know about this problem and how to fix it?

P.S. The error says "connection timed out" "Do you have permission to use this server"
