Re: Help to fix error message accessing Help Center

Hi William,
I tried resetting everything back to "default" and
I still get that same error message. I appreciate it, but
I almost never go to the Help Center anyway, so it's no big loss ... My
CD/RW isn't being recognized anymore and I wanted to go to the Help Center
to try to trouble shoot that ... but think I'll just buy an external DVD
burner to replace my internal CD/RW non-functional drive. Thanks again !
Michael

Hi Micheal,

What happens if you reset the Internet Options Security settings back to
default?

Open the Internet Options in the Control Panel, click on the Security Tab.
Select "Internet" then click "Default Level". Select "Local Internet" then
click "Default Level". Select "Trusted Sites" then click "Default Level".
Select "Restricted Sites" and click "Default Level". Click the Apply button.
Now try Help and Support.

Yes, I rebooted my computer and I disabled my anti-virus program; but when
i
tried to troubleshoot something, it took me to the Help Center and the
same
exact error message came up. This is very frustrating! But I very much
appreciate your efforts. Also, the posts in this newsgroup disappear so
quickly ... and my post and your replies are at the top of the list now,
so
I'm afraid that if i check it again tomorrow, it will be gone. If that
happens, I'll repost this whole dialogue again so that it will re-start at
the bottom of the page, OK? Thanks for trying to fix it for me ...
Michael
And, yes, the error message was EXACTLY as shown on your web page.

Did you reboot the computer after you made the registry edits. From the
web
page that I suggested, was the error message exactly the same as you see
in
the picture?

Did you try disabling your anti-virus software to see if you can access
Help
and Support.

In my Zone 4, 1200 is listed as a 3

I'm sorry ... I didn't see the other two posts. I appreciate your help.
I
went to Current User and there was no "1200" under Zone 0, so I created
one
... however, I also have Zones 1, 2, 3 and 4 ...the 1200
in Zones 1, 2 and 3 were all set to 0, but the 1200 in Zone 4 was set to
3,
so I changed it to 0.

The same was true for Machine except there was a 1200 = 0 in Zone 0, but
the
1200 in Zone 4 was 3, so I changed it to 0.

But none of that helped ... When I go to "Troubleshoot" anything, I still
get the Active X error message. Any
other suggestions? Again, thanks for your help ... Michael

When I try to access the Help and Support Center,
an error message immediately comes up stating:

" An ActiveX control on this page is not safe. Your current security
settings prohibit running unsafe controls on this page. As a result,
this
page may not display as intended".

And I can't go any further into troubleshooting ... this error message
always comes up. How do I fix?
Thanks!

I gave you this link in two other posts, please reply if this solution
does
not work for you. This will be my last reply for your problem unless you
reply to this thread.
