I would *never* knowingly have someone purchase *any* McAfee product because
of one of my posts.
I have been using AVG for quite some time and have not had problems with it.
I suspect that there may have been something funky with your installation of
AVG.
My recommendations...
Re-download AVG Free.
Pull the plug on your modem.
Uninstall AVG Free, if you already haven't.
Uninstall McAfee.
Reboot.
Reinstall AVG.
Re-connect your modem and update AVG.
