XP updates

Hello group and happy new year to all!

I am set to do automatic updates. however, for the past 7 or 8 days
everytime I turn on my computer it says there are updates ready to be
installed. Security updates. Could this be possible that MS is releasing
daily updates? or could there be an issue with my computer?
