"What is the best software to keep XP running at full speed?"
No software does this. The user does this, by learning how to maintain his computer and using it correctly.
"Should the registry be cleaned?"
No.
"I have had several problems that I have had to fix. (reinstalls)"
Reinstalling is not a "fix". Fixing something means understanding what went wrong and then taking steps to do it right. Reinstalling is "I don't understand what I'm doing wrong and/or I don't know how to fix it, so instead I'll just reinstall the thing."
"Is there one tool that does it all?"
Your brain. It's all you need and you've already got one.
"I am a very heavy user."
No one cares what you weigh. {;-) There is nothing in this world that can take the place of your own ability to learn and your good judgement. You have both, obviously, because you're asking these good questions.
"Thanks,
Scott"
So better get to work cause I'm going to be asking your advice pretty soon.
