You're looking in the wrong place. Brightness and Contrast are not Windows
features. They are hardware features of the screen. Your laptop should have
a brightness and contrast setting (they are usually the little sun and moon
type pictures on the keyboard). These pictures are in conjuction with other
keys and the symbols themselves are in blue. Once you find which keys the
are, hold down the Fn key and press the Sun up key. That will increase
brightness. Continue this proceedure until you get the desired brightness.
If all else fails, call your laptop maker for tech support.
