I've just started using the XP Backup Utility. I've noticed that after
backups the log states:
"Warning: Unable to open "Z:\shared\orders.xls" - skipped.
Reason: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by
another process."
I have ensured that I'm NOT selecting the "Disable Volume Shadow Copy".
I thought that by NOT selecting this option, it would still backup a
file if it's currently in use.

Running a task locally that backs up the files and then transfers the offline, should work, but as Lanwench posted, that could take a considerable amount of time and nothing guarantees that it will restore when you need it. ... I have found that the backup utility that came with my XP Home, seems to do a superb job and MUCH quicker. ...
