network problem with xp and w98

Trying to setup a small ( 2 user) network with XP and w98. System uses a
Linksys BefSr41 router and the two systems are connected through that. I set
up networking on the w98SE machine - setup a workgroup. I can see the W98
machine in Net Neighborhood.

Ran network wizard on the XP machine - set up the same workgroup etc.
Created a network diskette and ran that on the original w98 system. No
errors.

W98 still shows local machine name in NN but shows NO other machine.

XP system shows nothing in NN - not local nor the w98 machine.

I have another XP system connected to the router, in a different workgroup
and it *can* access the w98 machine, even tho it's a different workgroup but
it still cannot see the other xp machine.

I've disabled XP firewall on the xp systems.

Tried uninstalling and reinstaling the network setup but no joy.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanx,

Vic Baron
