Mark,
To find out what program or process is trying to delete the recent folder on shutdown
Try a folder audit (XP Pro), and check for logoff scripts.

I click start, click log off or turn off computer and every time I get an information message box that states, "Recent is a windows system folder and is required to run Windows properly. It cannot be deleted." I have searched the internet, news groups, Microsoft.com and on and on and I can't find out what I have done to make me have this message box appear or how to stop this message from occurring.
What have I done? In task manager I found the application and went to the process, explorer.exe. Since the message was an information popup box I went to the event viewer and looked under applications and systems but was unable to find any event associated with this event. I searched all of the log files on the c drive and still came up empty. I thought maybe it was a folder option, or a performance setting or in TweakIUXP but to no avail. The only thing I was able to find on the Internet was a reference to Hijackthis.exe. I downloaded the program and looked at it but I didn't do anything with this program and uninstalled it.
My system: I run Windows XP explorer with service patch 2, Norton Internet Security and keep both programs up-to-date.
What I would like: 1. To find out what program or process is trying to delete the recent folder on shutdown. 2. or how to disable this message box 3. or what I have done to my system to make this message appear.
Thanks for any help mark
