Okay, just to be clear, when you say Windows 'hangs up' on the xp logo..
what do you mean? The window hangs, or 'freezes', or do you mean that the
computer shuts down and restarts automatically?
Try using the emergency boot disk to get you started, it should have a
Boot.ini file on it that if yours is corrupt, you should be able to copy.
And, for the record, lots of people still manage to get infected with
unwanted viruses, malicious scripts, etc, even with multiple programs to
prevent it..sad, but true.
