SpyBot Search and Destroy is especially good at cleaning out that kind of
crud.

You can also try to empty your favorites the "accepted" and correct way. Go
to Start. Right click on Internet Explorer - then internet properties. Go to
delete files. Place a tick in the box that say delete off-line content.
