Lost control of destop

I have an windows 2000 system.

A trogan or virus locked my desktop so I cant do right click anywhere in
explorer. I dont have the option to do properties.

All the icons "disappered" from the desktop. They still exsist, I ran
search.

When you created a shortcut, it made 2 of them and if you deleted one of
them, the other would not work. That one I fixed.

The desktop was set to active from the virus/trogan. In the display
properties, I cant change the background, every choice is greyed out. It is
set to some explorer background.

I ran MS antispyware, norton antivirus, Did all the updates and removed most
of what I could that I could figure out what was installed bad html files.

What suggestions do you have to fix these problems?
If you need other info, I'll see what I can do.
Thanks in advance.
