The Money Investment Toolbox - used for the deluxe version of the MSN Prtfolio Mgr software, is an active X control. I have 3 computers running windows xp (one is the media center version). The software installs on one of them, but refuses to do so on the others. I have consulted the proferred help pages, and cannot get this to work despite trying such measures as: turning off the firewall, lowering the security level for theinternet zone, making *msn* and *microsoft* trusted sites.
I have NOT tried acrually ubinstalling my Symantec virus protection.
NB I have had no problems downloading earlier versions to my computres. The problems occur with the latest upgrade of the software - about two or three weeks ago.
I can run the basic portfolio manager on the machines where I cannot install the deluxe version, but it is crippled and make errors, as well as havibg a less useful interface.
For reference, the instaalation page for the software is:
http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/controls/cabx.asp?Redir=True&target=http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/finder/customstocks.asp
What I usually get (depenfing on exact security settings) is:
I click in the box, choose "install ...", a dialog window pops up, choose "install", and the little symbol that started in the box tirns imtp a red cross with no further messages.
