Computer Management | Sessions - Are there limitations?

Hello,

Background: We have a Windows 2000 server using domain which all the clients
logon too.

One machine in particluar, called "Hermes" acts as a client for a propriety
client/server system we developed. This is running WINDOWS XP PRO SP2. In
addition we have a printer which is shared from this machine. Finally, there
are files which often need to be accessed from the local share.

I have noticed that our users sometimes get an access denied message when
either trying to access the system OR access a file on the local share. This
morning a tried doing some troubleshooting as to what causes this problem.
It seems to be (though I can't say with 100% certainty) that 'Hermes' can
accept 11 unique "session" (viewable through computer management | Shared
Folders | Sessions). But the twelfth one will get a dialog box with the text
"request not accepted" or similiar (depending on the OS of the connecting
computer). If a computer is already connected it can open up many
connects/files.

Is there a known limit to the number of connections an XP Prro can accept?
Is there any workaround to this issue? All the other PCs are either XP Pro.
Win 2K pro, NT Workstation or 98 (no xp home or ME).

Thanks for any help in getting this straightened out!
GLenn
