Re: VB.NET Standard 2003 installation ruined my XP Home system!

Installing VB.NET 2k3 or VS.NET 2k3 will reduce performance to a slight
degree, as development versions of some of the OS files are installed, to
allow debugging to take place. That said, it will not degrade the
performance to the likes of what you describe in your post.

Suggest doing what we used to call a little spring cleaning. Save/backup
your important files, and format/reinstall the OS and applications clean.
