Windows Takes Ages to Logon

Last night i restarted my pc and now it takes about 15 mins for windows to
logon once i select a username. I formatted the drive and then installed
windows xp pro again and its still doing the same only one user on the pc
now and windows xp updates and symantec anitvirus installed on the pc and it
takes forever...

It sitn actually doing anything in those 15 mins though no HD activity or
proccesses. anyone got any ideas? i think i could have possibly got a virus
of my mates pc cos he had the same problem and he dropped his pc of last
night for me to format but his graphic cards broke and i keepg etting blue
screen saying display error

Anyone got an idea whats causing windows to take so long to upload?
