First off, whenever you're posting to these newsgroups, the more
information you can provide the better. In my earlier reply, I
asked a number of questions that would help me get a better idea
of exactly what you're experiencing. Where are the answers? Now
here's another question. On the blue screen, is there any other
information posted? Any mention of a driver file, something like
drivername.sys, listed?
That said, here are some things I'd try if I was sitting in front
of your PC:
If this only happens when you try to connect to the internet then
you may want to check the web site of your modem's manufacturer
for any updated drivers.
If that doesn't help then you might want to try the following:
Go into Device Manager (Start -> Run then type devmgmt.msc in the
Open box).
Find your modem in the listing and right click on it.
Select Uninstall. Close Device Manager and restart your PC.
Windows should detect your modem and reinstall the correct
drivers. If asked, provide the source for the modem drivers.
Note: Before you uninstall the modem, make sure you have the
correct drivers on hand. These can usually be obtained from the
manufacturer's web site.
It's also possible that there's a problem with the memory that's
installed in your PC. If you have multiple memory sticks, remove
one and try your internet connection. If you get the same results
then switch sticks and try again.
Here's a previous posting that may shed some more light on your
problem:
Good luck
