Probably nothing was wrong with your system. AVG had a problem establishing
an internet connection to their site a couple day ago. Your mail washer may
not connect because your NNTP connection to your isp's mail server may be
down temporarily. You should never panic when things stop working. You end
up causing more and permanant problems with your system. Wait a while, try
something else.
I have seen where I could not get any mail and my browser timed out getting
to my isp home page asking me to check my connection. BUT I could still
connect to another site! Make sure you don't screw up your system because of
things on the other end. The internet can have all kinds of things partially
down.
