Virtual memory is memory (data-information) that is written to the hard-disk
drive temporarily as your system gets near what it feels is the limit of
what it can use in random access memory (RAM). It is a cache for data and
registry keys. My mother's Windows 2000 system used to get this message a
lot as she worked on her family photographs. You can change the amount of
hard-disk drive space that you think the operating system is requesting
(for virtual memory) by a menu in right-clicking My Computer. Please, look
around there as I'm not on a Windows machine at the moment. The Windows
size on install is 384 mb typically; however, this changes sometimes, and
changes occur sometime depending on the amount of installed RAM. Raise the
standard amount of RAM's number incrementally until you have no more
problems. You will have to reboot each time you raise the amount, so,
perhaps, the process will try your patience. The other action is to find
out exactly what kind of RAM is in your compter and purchase more of the
RAM, and then install or have someone install for you some more of the RAM.
